Although buying dinoflagellates (or, dinos) during this time of year can be a little tricky, there’s no need to fret – we’re always here to hold your fin! 🐬

If I buy dinos before Christmas, will they be fine in their box until then?
Short answer? No.
Long answer: because dinoflagellates are living organisms that need light to survive, keeping your dinos in a box will be sure to expire them.
Because of this, we strongly recommend purchasing the gift option, or if you really, really (and, I mean, really) must have your live dinos ahead of time, be sure to set up them up immediately using the directions included in the box and care for them until the big day.
What’s the difference between the gift option and a live shipment?
While live shipments ship with the living dinos included, the gift option allows you to pre-pay for dinos without the hassle of caring for them until gifting.
How it works:
Each gift option contains an empty micro-aquarium and a unique code that allows your recipient to redeem their dinos and food on our website.
Once redeemed, we’ll ship your recipient’s dinos and food directly to their home (weather permitting) at no charge to them.
How does weather affect shipping?
Dinos are at their happiest when they’re in a moderate temperature, ranging from 30 °F (-1 °C) to 90 °F (32 °C). The scientific term for this temperature range is their happy zone. 😃
To ensure your dinos arrive happy and healthy, we try our best to only ship dinos when your local temperature is within this zone. If your local temperature exceeds this range, we’ll notify you via email and ship once the weather is more favorable.
What date should I order my gift to get it in time for Christmas?
Our official cutoff date to purchase dinos on time for Christmas is Sunday, December 17 at 11:59 PM PST.
However, we still recommend buying the gift option far ahead of this date!
Because this is our busiest time of the year, customers can experience shipping delays with their orders. To play it safe, we recommend purchasing the gift order ahead of time to ensure a hassle-free holiday experience.
Can you deliver my dinos on XYZ date?
Short answer? No.
Long answer: Is this even a thing?
Regardless, you can try to time your purchase according to your desired delivery date, but – during this time of year – results will vary wildly.
Our recommendation? Purchase a gift option ahead of time for a hassle-free holiday season.
Oh no – I’ve made a mistake in my order! What do I do?
Ooof. This is a tough one. Because our office is incredibly busy during this time of year, we cannot accommodate modifications once the order has been placed.
If you made a mistake in your shipping address, please contact the shipping service immediately to modify the address. If you made a mistake in the product, feel free to send it back to us and drop us a line through support.biopop.com to process a return.
